The question is... which of the two molecules would be better at absorbing water? I went with the first one (wrong answer choice) and my reasoning is that the second molecule may form INTRAmolecular hydrogen bonding which will prevent/lower INTERmolecular hydrogen bonding with the solvent (water) and therefore reduce its water absorbing capabilities....
